THE LESSON

THE LESSON

THE LESSON

Swinging on starlight is my game
But suddenly the sunlight  came,
Caught me, brought me swinging high
Into a wide blue sunlit sky.

It hurled me to a mountain peak
Then, laughing, left me, shouting 'seek'
So gazing from this lofty perch
I saw the whole that I must search.

And then, within a daytime dream ,
I joined the sunlight on a stream,
Became the smallest drop of self
Arriving at a rocky shelf

To fall then with a thund'rous roar
Down ten thousand feet or more
To coalesce and re-exist
Within a churning sun-kissed mist.

The pool then fed a river, wide,
That fed an ocean's shifting tide
Where the elders' haunting song
Tells the fate of ephemeron.

A sunbeam caught a whisp of me,
Drew me to a towering tree
Which sent me in a sap fuelled flight
Soaring back to tree-top hight.

Then, as a leaf, I drifted down
To settle on the moss strewn ground
A part of all and all a part
Of one great love-filled beating heart.

Then I finally understood.
Of all thats great and all thats good
Within this world, I am part and whole
I am the world.  I am the soul.
