Lessons Heard Contradict Lessons Learned

Money cannot buy happiness…
or so said the grade school teacher to her young class!
Easy for some to hear, tougher for others that flat out disagree with her quoted lie.
Basketball and football for the lower class, as the rich kids got to enjoy both plus hockey and golf.Â
800 dollars for hockey signups including pads, plus the additional costs of all the other gear.
500 dollars for a decent set of golf clubs, plus all the free time needed and money for gas.
It wasn’t until I became an adult that I got to try both. Hockey not so much for me personally.
However golf I cannot get enough of. Being outdoors in open land and getting a chance to be competitive.
My son is getting a 10 year jump start on me, as he is 16 and already has had two sets of clubs.Â
He’s not into hockey but he got to try and decide, however he loves golf just as much as me.Â
Money cannot buy happiness…
is what I heard her say that day in my 5th grade class.Â
But she never had to experience her kids having to do without, she was born to a silver spoon childhood too.Â
For kids like me, we don’t agree, for we personally know…
Money can provide happiness, especially when lack of it causes you to go without.Â
