I don't like the term Ex 
So I call her my Y 
X doesn’t do either of us justice 
X is a consonant 
A constant 
Y defies boundaries
a proud vowel 
When it's alone - sometimes 
Y feels more variable 
X marks the spot, a dot on the date that we stopped adding up to one 
X and Y are both axis 
But she’s still growing up and she would ask me how I could be so certain
Days of sideways certainty fade every day that we don't say I miss you

I had to be like you to get over you 
She is the reason Y  
I know myself better now than I did while 
We were together 
What's next after X 
Y does it matter 
Y equals mx + b 
A linear love equation

Chose to go through with it,

For showing me Y love needs to come from both sides 
She is Y my highs feel like flying 
And Y my lows feel like dying 
Y I learned in love it only take one mistake to make it miserable

Y I redirect my negative energy to things
