Letter To Dad

I have been awakened this tranquil morn-
By God's gentle hand.
It's o.k. Dad to let me go....
In my heart, I understand.

Though this bridge of the soul's emotion-
Is crossed in flesh and bone-
The first step in the Spirit is eternity!
Dad, you do not walk alone.

The Holy Spirit is your guide my friend-
Into everlasting peace.......
Jesus holds your hand-
Your contentment shall never cease!

When Father calls your name Dad-
Hold not back for me!
Eternity awaits beyond!
I give you up unselfishly.

I give you to our Father's care!
I give you to Heaven's shore!
I give you to your many loved ones......
Who have gone Home some time before!

I give you to God's angels!
May you rest ever 'neath their wings!
I give you to the Great I Am!
His praises I shall sing!

For he gave you once to me Dad.
I return such a trust to Father.....
Ever grateful for the love of you both!
Thankful to be.....a daughter.

Note: This poem is how I said a "temporary" good bye to my Dad. I was a Daddy's girl for sure. My earthly Father was and
will always remain an important part of my life. I miss him daily. The night before he died, I read this to him at his bedside. Dad always encouraged my writing. He was a man of God. He sure loved Jesus! I had been told by the Holy Spirit that Dad was dying. No one wanted to believe it.....my mother could not bear the thought or accept it. Dad told me he loved me and how much this poem meant to him. He could barely talk and raise his head. My father passed away at home the next evening. So grateful God gave me a chance to say goodbye. I do not take such for granted. I am grateful....and Dad? Well...... he is HOME waiting on his baby girl!!!
