Poem -

liberation

~~To cut the chase.
Pick up my face.
I gather courage to say,
“I will not let you stay”
I’ve got a mind of my own.
You will not make me groan.
I may have failed in the past,
But I will succeed today.

You see me hiding.
Bricks colliding.
I’m running for cover
And falling down the stairs.
I’m dodging spitballs,
Looking out for pitfalls.
“Stand up! Straighten out!”
I command my fears.

“Now repeat after me:
G-d grant me serenity,
For I know I cannot change,
Anything besides for me.
Though you tell me, it’s my mission,
 So I do simple addition.
I see it does not add up,
Time to face reality.”

“Will I let you stop my breath?
Dig my grave, await my death.
Try to change the plans of G-d,
And let my life so slowly fade?
Or will I change the things I can,
Trust in G-d. he’s got a plan.
Rejoice in my new liberty ,
For my decision has been made.”
