Life as we live it was full of decisions

sometimes we made the right ones

and often got them wrong, but nevertheless

we didn’t learn from our mistakes 

we represented a small minority of people

the temptation still crept and lingered in our minds

at this precise moment; time was of the essence

i looked back and thought of what life had taught me

we encountered day to day struggle for different reasons

some of us passed away during the four seasons

the new year brings us hope; a new beginning

we always had a choice to make to keep things moving

jealousy and envy ignited more fury

then the deeds were done and presented to the jury

case closed, stay close; I heard them say

''don’t lose your only focus in life''.

As we enter in to another dimension

life is lived forwards and remembered backwards

what came to be preceded the truth

lies and deceit fuelled our lives; then into our youths

relationships began and many were broken

forgetting was easy; forgiving was long term

our love was strong but never seemed to last

as many thought the grass was greener on the other side

was it a life experience or a forgettable past?

some lived for today; not knowing their future

what portrayed their lives was the picture they painted

life wouldn’t be worth living if tomorrow was a promise

what the world gave us brought us to our knees

religions divided and then came the holy war

in the beginning, there was a word

and that word we all came to know was ‘peace’

we do what we must; but we know we have to change

because time at the present; life is a lesson.
