Life after Pie

You could have been an oragami of Japan
You could have been a range in The Afghan
You could have been the face of an old man
You could have been a breadcrumb in the pan

You could have become
a label on a can...

or packaging for dairy
Perhaps a birthday card,
or shoe box,
but alas you won't make it;
instead you'll die a slow death
uniting with the earth

Rain will fall
and rot will set in
Mildew, ants and mice
will dine on your flesh
It won't be very nice;
in fact, rather scary

Because of my awful sin,
when I missed the bin,
now you won't arrive
at the recycling fairy

to experience rebirth
get a new lease on life
and obtain a better worth

I'm so sorry
my brown paper bag
