Poem -
life in a freezer
old and frail-slow she moves
living alone -sickness and flues
hands like ice - no-one to care
family gone - in the mirror she stares
lonely and sad - no heating - no laugh
clothes old - body old
her will is leaving - no-one to be grieving
starving and sick - no future to believe in
so lonely are the elders
so many tears they cry
so many without a human that cares
so many left to die
one knock at the door
a helping hand
a listening ear
helps understand
the old need love
the old need care
you don't have to be related
to give a little time to theirs
lost are their souls
broken is their will
for all the time they sit alone
for them times standing still

Indeed. My mum lives a few minutes from me, so I can care for her, but there are so many elderly who have no one and are alone. So sad.
