Life is a cruel illusion

Life is a cruel illusion

There is a looming emptiness
in this place of exile in my mind.
In here, the sun is half-hidden behind the dark lashes of pollution and held hostage by even darker clouds.
Silently it writhes - shivering to be free from amorphous chains.
But through the struggle,
tiny pieces of burning energy
break off and drift away for eternity, leaving trails of ash suspended in the dusty air until the fire burns less passionately than before and life seems like a cruel illusion.
