The Inner Voice
I thought I heard a voice one night,
From where I lay in bed.
It wasn't clear at first to me,
That the voice was in my head.
At first it whispered just my name,
Then a mass of senseless words.
I tried to find from where it came
But my cognizance was blurred.
Very quickly this voice became
As pristine as is ours.
Far from speaking just my name,
It spoke to me for hours.
Losing track of precious time;
Held down by nightfall's chain -
I listened to this voice of mine,
Planting thoughts within my brain.
It told me many secrets -
Some I must not share.
But it also asked me questions,
Before fading to elsewhere.
It was only then, when silence came,
That I could go to sleep.
But even then with eyes tight shut,
My slumber wasn't deep.
So in the morning I awoke,
More tired than before.
My bones ached, head pained,
My body wholly sore.
Every night when I'm in bed,
The voice within me flows,
It fills me with self-loathing,
Then back inside it goes.

Very nice....the negative voices in my head I call "the committee." I fight them back with postivite affirmations. I could identify with your poem. Thanks! JCG
Haha, I love that James! Thanks so much! Sam :)
My Dear Sam,
Is it possible that you misinterpret
This voice inside of you
When it visits in nights darkness
You say it brings loathing very true
But maybe in your slumber
Your views are totaled wrong
And these visions you are assessing
Are really harbingers of dear loves song
Hugs, Peace and Love,

Hi Samantha! Good to read your work! You write of a topic we can relate to...turning off our brain in order to rest peacefully. Remember anything negative is just evil trying to get the best of you... Great piece!*!*! I feel the torment...
