Life is Short

Life is Short

Our lives are no longer than the mayflies
And the sequoia finds her croning just as swift

The fish feels no wetter in the ocean

And the cicada finds a week such a gift.

My city is the size of the beehive

My world no larger than that of the door mouse

The ant hill is a grand old palace

Much more splined and great than my house

The earth is a dandelion in the sun's garden

Shaded by shrubs and trees

The sun is but a grain of sand

In the galaxies swirling seas

The spider is a mighty warrior goddesses

Ruling from her web on high

And we live no less and no more

No matter how long it takes us to die
