"Life Jacket Jesus"

"In active addiction,
who were we kidding,
what were we thinking?
We thought we were thriving,
but we were just barely surviving,
because those that use drugs,
are on a lonely boat,
with a large hole in it,
and it's bound to sink.
Instead of A Life Jacket Jesus,
we donned drugs,
over our shoulders,
and lookie there,
they turned out to be boulders.
To the bottom,
we lost sight of The Son,
but the nightmare,
had just begun!
No hope in sight,
because we left,
our life jacket,
on that boat,
and no will to fight.
'Man my chest,
is getting awfully tight!'
When we settled down,
at the bottom of that lonely sea,
we got used to,
familiar misery,
and made friends,
with skeletons,
of others that sank to their graves.
My how the waves,
made the dead parade!
Wishing we could just be free,
because we were sick and tired,
of being enslaved,
at the bottom of the sea,
because rock bottom,
had more wicked turns,
and nasty surprises.
It's torturous what the devil devises,
but we had a plan,
to pray to the God,
that we understand,
and He said,
'Put down all that weight,
give up those boulders,
My Arm's on your shoulder.
Throw away,
all that resentment and hate.
True freedom my child,
you'll love it!
It's Great!
So we closed our eyes,
made peace with all the lies,
and we threw off those boulders,
and started to float.
Thank You Oh Lord,
we got back to that boat!"
