Observing Muhammad Ali train in his Deer Lake Pennsylvania Training
Camp before his Leon Spinks fight.  Our family friend  became
buddies with Ali (1978).
 
Played little league baseball with Ed McCaffrey who won a Superbowl
ringwith the San Francisco 49ers and two rings with the Denver Broncos.
 
Marched in the 30th Anniversary for Jobs and Freedom  (August
1993)to commemorate the 30th anniversary of  MLK’s
“I Have a Dream Speech.”
 
Newspaper articles -Disney Sweatshops  (1996)
       -Hunger Strike to get NYC Council to hold hearings  (1997)
       -Organizing rallies at the U.N. addressing modern slavery (97-00)
 
Mr. West Milford 5,000  (Oct. 2005)
-was the 5,000th resident of West Milford NJ to donate a pint of blood.
           
Having two Burmese Pythons (18 and 10 feet)  in my backyard within
     a three days period (summer 2012)

Human Rights
    -Creating Interfaith Alliance for Christian Human Rights  (1996)
   -speaking out against the persecution of Christians overseas.
    -Became the NYC Director for the American Anti-Slavery Group(97)
     -Engaged in a 12 day hunger strike to get the NYC Council
             to address modern slavery.
 
-Asked to speak @ Congresswoman Nydia Valezquez  Press
Conferenceregarding the deaf-mute Mexican slaves forced to
sell trinkets on the NYC subway system (97).         
                                                                                                                           
-Lobbyist for the International Religious Freedom Act of 1998
 in the NYC Metropolitan area.
       -creates an Ambassador at Large in the Department of State
       -creates a Special Adviser on International Religious Freedom
               on the National Security Council
      -the President must address the three countries committing
             with the worst religious freedom records yearly.
 
-Kept  Sudan off the UN Human Rights Commission by contacting
the office of U.N. Ambassador  Richard  Holbrooke and sending
AASG andthe Freedom House leader to educate the ambassador
about the genocide and slavery happening in  Sudan  (2,000)
 
- I helped plant seed for Rev. Sharpton to travel  to  visit Sudan
to witness and report on modern day  slavery (2001)
 
-Mayor Ed Koch supported my idea for the NYC Jewish Heritage
Museum to create a kiosk and spot on their web-site
to educate where current genocides are taking place. (2004)
 
-Met with A.M. Rosenthal, Editor of the NY Times  regarding the
Congressional bill of the  International Religious Freedom Act.(1997)
 
-Worked with the National Labor Committee –the group that
made Kathy Lee cry  (1996)
 
-Invited NYC Councilman Miguel Martinez to speak with my
Government Class, ended up giving the High School for Health
and Sciences a Certificate of Recognition from NYC Council (2007)
***the Councilman was arrested one year later for embezzlement.
 
Awards:      
Jewish Action Alliance – recognition for human rights work (1997) 
NYC Council of Churches – Distinguished Lecturer Award (1997)
Teacher of the Year:  voted by peers at the H.S. of
         Health Careers and Sciences   (2012)

Failed Town Council Candidate (2006)
         -tires slashed,  front car windshield broken
          -character slandered with false bribery charges
           -judge threw out charge with for having no merit      
          -political operative used username “Jim Geist” on
                   local internet site [identity theft & libel].
 
Interesting Family Facts

Uncle Earl Geist fought as a Marine in the
Amphibian Unit in Goudal Canal.
 
Uncle Bill Short fought in Korea and served a mission at
Tomb of the Unknown Soldier
 
Grandfather James Short,  is a graduate of PSU (engineering) and has
two patents to his name creating a system that moves wet concrete
from ships to silos on land.
 
Grandfather Fred Geist was a charter member of the
United Auto Workers 677 in Allentown Pa.
 
William Geist harvested a buck 1/2 a point a way
from a world record in Illinois.
 
Sister Jody won a federal case in Valley Veterinary Hospital
& the AFSCME  Local 488    (2005)

Cousin Cheryl has appeared in over two dozen movies as
an extra.
