Poem -

Like coffee

I want you like coffee,
Hot but smooth.

The taste not diluted with milk

Or sugar.

Ā

I want you straight as I can stand you.

Sometimes that means

Not being around you.

Don't want you bitter.

Ā

I drink you in

As my eyes take in the horizon.

You're in the morning.

You're a jolt

Ā

In my evening.

You're in my hands, a wreath of steam

Rises as I sip of your warmth

Going through the body.

Ā

I'm awake

When you make me.

Ā
