Limbs of The Human Persuasion

New sound blossoms
Like color on the end
Of a high branch
Smoke rings
And broken dreams
Redden thine eyes
As she lies half naked
Half dead
Half ready to be born again
Paper thinĀ
In a frame
Gilded with macaroni and
Sparkle hearts
Crayon spaghetti smile
My darling was a baby
For a little while
Until the milk on the counter
Became so important
She grew tall limbs to reach it
And forgot in that moment the very need
Of milk
Or ribbon
Or anything really
A sudden almost instant and unforgettable urge
For smaller limbs
And a drooly chin
My darling was a baby until
I called her babe
And she shaved her legs for me
And I screamed at her
In the morning
For my dreams were broken and
Burning and
She couldn't see them
She was a baby then until
She learned to cross the street
And never come home
We grow
We grow
We grow
Entirely through suffering
Reach a state of tall slender maturity
Scream at the stark realization of what we've done
Where the journey begun
and it's ultimate endingĀ
With shaken battered
Withered old limbs
Ā
