Lines Drawn In the Sand

It's the lines we draw in the sand
that keep us apart forever
The struggle is always to dominate
to be hailed and doubted; never!
This has been since the beginning
the start of social abuse
Only further in truth tightening
the rope of our own noose

Yes the differences make us unique
their characters we must embrace
But standing together as one
when a common cause we face
The enemy is always present
though oft hard to define
It may be the current system
that's no friend of mine

The veterans of that war surround us
we just call them by different names
Many have been lost in prison cells
instead of dying on endless plains
Yet their sacrifices are no different
it's our associations that are
They too long for the better days
which now seem forever far
