Living by Faith

Living by Faith

Ahhh my garden. An ecosystem…

a microcosm…

but definitely not an Eden!

The toil is real, as the dull in my wrists

and the subtle sting on my skin

from imperceptible bugs

bacterium, and prickles, and

chemical fertilizer, and UV

reveals            half way through

I hit a snag and my blissful

unawareness of a blister

flies up and away

like an abandonment

of the Holy Ghost       Then

the other sensations begin

a ruckus of conversation

“What about us?” say the feet,

“we’re thin to the bone

and want to go home!”

My spineless back also protests,

“There’s a seat over there,

in the shade   that I

highly suggest.”

Even my face needs “some air”

to cool off the humid heat of

hair-mob aggravating for a war

Indeed the sun is near noon

and it’s not too soon

to call it quits, my stomach

begins to bark out some

Slow Rock

And so by faith I defiantly

bypass the fiery seraphim

of my wife and son

who want the job done

grab some snacks

and head straight for

the ‘TV of Life’
