Lonely Childhood

LONELY CHILDHOOD
A little piece of poetry and its only just for you
Remembering our childhood, as we often do
We must have been little brats but no-one seemed to care
Were we really awful, or was no-one simply aware
The torments of our childhood, is vivid still today
What makes people thoughtless, to ignore and push us away
We hurt inside so deeply and was cut right to the core
But like ignorant puppies, yelped and begged for more
All we wanted was tenderness, someone to say they cared
Then in our adult lives, love was something we feared
Insecure and scared, that’s what we’ve always been
Putting on a tough brave face, that’s what everyone had seen
Emotions are too fickle and hearts are easy to break
How much rejection can any one person take.
