Poem -

Long Before You Came

My demons love your darkness
They drink in all your tears
The only time they can still feel
Is when comforting your fears

Within the dark and damp, cold and hollow
Cavern I call a soul
Shivers a shapeless nameless mass of memories
None of which are whole

Such burning rage and passion
So full of life
Soft sorrow and guilt
That cuts like a knife
Crowding a mind tied down by shame
All thriving within you
An ever rising flame

Lying limp and alone this lingering fading facsimile of spirit
Landed it's gaze on that blazing, burning flame
Calling out, too faint for you to hear it
So long before you came
