Poem -

Lost Soldiers

There is a day that brings
tears to my eyes
Slowly streaming down these
pale white cheeks
For this is the day that brought
fear to my beating heart
The wind blows in the dark
 velvet moonlight

The silence was broken with
the screams of the dying
As the darkness lit up red
like the Fourth of July
The smell of decaying bodies
filled the midnight air
As the sound of bombshells
echoing in the midnight hour

Bodies began to pile while
blood slowly spilled out
Absorbing into the soil with
the memories of the past
The battle rages on as the
soldiers fight for freedom
Trying to bring peace to the
world which we live
