LOVE AT MIDNIGHT

LOVE AT MIDNIGHT

When love came calling
You were not at home
What a pity.

You asked for me, longed for me
And now that I am here
You are not at home
How sad.

You desired me without hope
You wanted me without patience
You waited without faith.

But I am love, true love,
Patient, long-suffering, and kind
I seek not my own
But to love unconstitutionally.

So I’ll be waiting for your return,
From that distant land of despair,
I will remain steadfast and unmovable.

Until desire inflames your heart
And faith walks you back
Into my loving arms.

Wilford Barker.
