LOVE FIERCELY

LOVE FIERCELY

How can I truly love myself

If I've pushed part of me away

If I neglected, rejected her

And always made "HER" pay?

I blamed my wounded self

The "ME" of my painful past

I just wanted to get out of that house

So we grew up way too fast

I try to accept, embrace her

But she won't leave our past behind

She's a constant little reminder

Of my past painful state of mind

How can I truly love myself

If I've closed the door in my face

How do I know what love really is

If I didn't know what it was in the first place?

I have a lot of work to do

If I'm ever going to be free

But tell me; How can I possibly know how to love

When I never learned how. . .
to love me?

What an HONOR to have cyber friends that take the time to read my poetry and respond with such genuine compassion. I feel like an honored guest at your table, with LOTS of brotherly love  being served up. You and Cherie and few other cyber friends just hanging out! It's a wonderful feeling! Thank you!
