Love is.....

LOVE IS….
John Lennon said “Love is like a plant.  You can’t just put it in a cup board;  you have to water it, let it get air and sunshine.”  I think love is like an automobile.
 
At a minimum,  you put gas in your car to keep it going.

At  a modest level,  you get the oil changed every 5,000 miles and rotate the tires and keep always keep filling windshield washer fluid in window washer plastic tank.

At the optimum level,  you wash it,  wax it, and change the windshield wipers in the summer and late fall and vacuum the car out 6 times a month.
 
Cars are made to be run, operated,  to move, to let the oil flow through the engine as the wheels spin and air flying through the open window with the radio playing the rock-n-roll.
 
It makes me sad to see a car on sitting on a driveway for years as the oil thickens,  and rust grows on the body,  and the battery dies, tires deflating as the sun dulls the shiny paint flakes in the color of the car.  What happens to the abandoned car is what happens to love that is not maintained with effort, intentionality and fun.
 
Sadly,  most people give more love to their vehicles than to the people in their lives.  Of course, if things go bad in a relationship,  I still have my car to get to work,  the therapist or the bar and I can always buy a puppy for unconditional acceptance.
