Love is underrated

Love is underrated

It used to mean a lot.
Back then hearing those three words
was elevating in every sense of the word.
Butterflies in your stomach,
your heart warming, as it meant forever.

Nowadays we throw it
at everything we see.
Like wreckage it just scatters,
soon as we find another.

One day love won’t be an emotion.
It will be a word like every other.
Unremarkable, making a routine
of using it like it was nothing special.

So be thoughtful.
Say it only when you mean it,
to remain those exceptional words,
binding two people in loving one another.
Forever.
