Poem -

Love left ajar

A rural repetition to be forgotten is what’s to show
You’re a chrysanthemum flower that has lost its radiant glow
You have a cascade of problems that have started to overflow
Your repugnant memories are what continuously grow from the back of your mind
The clock is ticking, hoarding time as it passes
You have become a silhouette always lingering in others footsteps
The voices in your head are inexorable, reminding you of your past
The moments which consisted of an ephemeral dictatorship
Ruled by a irritated, hoarse voice
You were told to stay but left because it was your choice
You have become oblivious to breathing in toxic air
Enraptured by your cynical self but too distracted to care
As a child you were well aware of abandonment
And growing up it was just something to bare
Years later here you are with insecurities that have been scarred
And a temporary feeling of love just left ajar.
