For the Love of Money

Bonnie and Clyde, the Barrow Gang, were hitting it big, bank to bank they left with a bag full of lute
Like Romeo and Juliet the two of them were bound, bound in love and bound in trouble
An eye for an eye, everyone was hurting back in the depression, every penny would count
Town to town, they got around, finally to Texas, thought this was best, rugged together, quite a couple
Clyde once an honest man, tired and drug down by society and the law, stole another car, though it wouldn't amount
Amount to anything, this time, no time to get away, tried to lay low inside the Ford V8, but too late
The posse showed up and their rifles fired loud, one hundred and sixty seven bullets, they didn't get out
Holes all through the windows and doors, blood pouring out between the seat, for the love of money, had its defeat
The two of them dead, a romance no more, Henry Ford's car couldn't protect them anymore
For the love of money, you might do just about anything, kidnap a friend, or hold up a liquor store
But in the end, it will have no more worth, just like one of Bonnie's own poems, the two of them will be buried together, forever covered with dirt

Wow Nancy,
Not only was this a wonderful poem of such intriguing outlaws, you told a story of their true lives as well, an autobiography they would have loved to have read by you their author. This was a poem that really hit home for all of those, who knew and was intrigued with their drastically, dirty little deeds. You gave a new meaning and inspiring new twist to their motives and true reasons of their desperately long running crime reign.
Job well done and a poem that could not have been written better if Bonnie had wrote it herself. Great Job...

Jimmy-
Thanks for your support and compliments, I always liked the movie with Faye Dunaway as Bonnie, Clyde as Warren Beadey, but I can't even imagine the real deal!!
I wish more people would read this poem, only 95 so far, I really think it's better than most of mine, I love telling a story, and looking at your poetry, you do as well. Your writings are so good, I want a whole book of them!!
