LOVE THY NEIGHBOR

Starving children...no education...bloody water...mutilation...Shoeless feet, dirty clothes, infected wounds, ribcage shows...Dirty faces and fingers linger in my mind's peripheral view, an obtrusive truth we choose to refuse, turning a Blind Eye as we continue to move. We lose ourselves, refusing help, nor do we offer to help someone else; We delve into stealth and failing health, allowing Earth the become our Hell. Oblivious, delirious: Why can't we take this serious? A world much too mysterious, Lucifer is steering us. Cyanide, dying pride, Black Widows: dead inside. A lonely Corpse Bride in a veil, a grim but honest fairy tale. We turn away, our vision bleak; "Turn our cheek", our Jesus said but I believe His Word we have misread. Misconstrued, the screws are loose, drug induced for ego boost. Is it All for One or One for All? Do we truly care if our neighbor falls? Our hands are dirty, caked in filth, we hide in darkness, sinful guilt. Adultery! Murder! Cannibals! We ravage flesh like animals! We bury young before the old, coffins closed: A life untold. Brutal violence, senseless silence, a world corrupted in defiance. Fire! Fire! Douse the flame! Sacrifices at the stake! Altars! Idols! Man made shrines! Resentment, grudges, loss of time! Toxic! Poison! Mass pollution! Problem! Conflict! No solution! Who are we? We are the Future! With sutured minds we could end this stupor! With mended hearts and stitched up wounds we could stop this madness, if we choose. But fear keeps us complacent! Content to stay the same! We must NOT love our neighbor! We don't even know their name...
