Loveliest Friend

She was there when he broke apart
Saw his scattered tears 'cross the page
His love and pain no longer required
While for him there was never a scorned lovers rage.
He broke again when her message was read,
Torn apart was he by it’s crystal incision,
β€˜I cannot help you’ was all that it said.

Can't blame her really, how much should she stand?
Though help was not what he needed,
Just a hug to soothe the heartache.
And he knew he would wait but will go unheeded,
When her look told him that this was the end;
And she knows that he cannot say goodbye
For she remains his loveliest friend.
