Love's Blueprint

Resolutely stoic within the depths of my heart
Solemnly stands the framework of our puzzling art

Amidst the scattered mass of past love's debris 
Lays the unfinished structure  of you and me

A haunting silhouette yet firm and oaken 
Amongst the splintered sawdust of bonds now broken

Here lays a hollow portent of lives unfulfilled
An unspoken testament that love can't be willed

For no matter how precise the blueprint's devise
The plans of our love were to weak to stay the demise

So crumbling down came all but the frame
For stolidly isolated within that structure the love is the same

Now amidst the wreckage of lives now spent
This frame remains, grief as its emotion's rent

And while others have been both built and felled
This incomplete monument has yet been quelled

Because never can I bring the wrecking ball through
For though this structure is condemned, it still lets me hold on to you
