Lupines Along an Alaskan Highway

Traveling along an Alaskan Highway,
during late July a meadow is
covered with a purple surprise,
they are the lupines reaching
way up to the bright blue sky,
standing tall and not looking shy.
The wild beauties provide
perennial pleasure for all to see,
short-lived flowers who enjoy
living in the land of the midnight sun,
basking in hours of full daylight,
adding color to the tundra with delight.
Purple mountains provide the majesty
of the splendor of the panoramic scene,
where the lupines complement the royalty,
providing a violaceous pathway to the throne,
up into the heavenly summer sky in sight,
leaving all breathless and in awe of being alright.
