Lydia McCaffery’s Soup Spoon

 
Lydia McCaffery’s soup spoon was appalled
by chicken stock and radishes.
Dismayed by the chervil
and sundry snips of chive and cabbage heads.
Miffed by the boiled Beef
and the heirloom Garlique -
with a zest of lemon, shaving kosher salt
from the split-ends of a braid
of Babushka’s egg noodles
steeping in beet juice -
with a cavalcade of sour cream
rising to meet you.
Hated flowers
because
Forks
Ate
Salad.
