The Second Coming
Keeps not happening:
Jesus Christ does not return.
JC does not return.
JC becomes leader of
The Labour Party
And young voters
See him as their saviour.
But politicians lie
Or get things wrong
And the same old
Patterns are repeated:
The annual budget cuts
To schools, hospitals,
Armed forces.
MPs fiddle their expenses,
Newspapers hack phones.
Another sex scandal.
Another shooting
In America.
Brexit:  Hard or soft
Just the latest
European Economic Community/
European Community/
European Union
Debate.
The most recent
Of many.
I go home
Watch repeats on TV
Sleep again
And then
Cycle to work
The next day.
