Madness knocks

Madness knocks

I fell for it.

The entertainment has arrived,

madness knocks at your door,

bangs its feet on your stoop,

claiming you have arrived,

clearly you seeΒ it as the darkness at your door,

others see only implications,

beneath your scowl,

behind your eyes,

in the touch of your attention,

they say it is there,

I fell for it.

I accepted it,

I even welcomed it,

thinking I could see the beauty in its chaos,

thinking I could entertain its catharsis,

believing I could live a lie,

I fell for it.

But it isn't real,

that is the beauty of its essence,

it lives in patterns,

coming in waves,

moving in slurs,

penetrating every layer of comprehension,

acting on insinuations,

augmentingΒ infatuations,

I fell for it,

but it isn't real.
