Marmalade Dreams (Part II) LONG!!!

It was one day, some day, Groundhog Day
And my brain was stuck on replay
I was screaming, beaming, dreaming
Leaning on a window sill
Juggling a bag of cyanide pills
When a woman on daffodil hill
Showed me some goodwill
She was one of them girls
As she said, ‘Step out in the world.’
So I did...

I was winking, slinking, drinking
Thinking about how I was blinking
When I did fall for lovely Norma
Her son owned some creepy motel
The ceilings they all had pneumonia
The rooms all had a funny smell
To her, I pledged some vows
As her son sat in his prison cell
It wasn’t till the wedding night
That it didn’t work out too well

I was redirected, neglected, disconnected
Suspected of having been infected
I found Mary Queen of Scots
 Peeking from the guillotine shelf
She was staring at me headless
But otherwise a picture of health
I could have called her my lover
I could have called her over to bed
She knew I wasn’t that type of man
To wonder if she would give me head

I was elated, was slated, was debated
I deliberated as I became so frustrated
I was approached by a lover of old
It was clear she was standing in the cold
Wanted me to be a hero, join the army
They hand out mandatory murder for free
Wanted me to kill some English people
Wanted to kiss me as The Empire fell
I should’ve known right from the start
She was looking for Napoleon Bonaparte

I was humming, running, forthcoming
The night was cunning as it was stunning
It was getting dark when I saw a spark
From a fire that engulfed Joan of Arc
The people got restless and unkind
Only freedom was on their minds
It seemed Anastasia was next in line
I didn’t see a queue forming at the time
People can change their opinions quick
From a lunatic right down to a Bolshevik

I was powered, I scoured, I cowered
I got devoured and I got showered
With gifts by the orange virgin queen
Men hanging from her knicker seems
A warrant for death inside her hand
Not enough fingers to count her land
Pulled me close, pulled me into her arms
There I knew I would be at no harm
I happened to notice so mundane
The death warrant was in my name

I was detailed, was derailed, was impaled
I prevailed as I somehow terrifically failed
Stood staring down an endless corridor
I heard someone shout the word cut
A camera knocked me out clean
As I was advertising some nuts
Too many people knew my name
I was knocked down like a domino
I kept getting back up and theorising
That I must be in the Truman Show

I did believe that I had to leave
As the sun burst through the sky
The stars cracked me on the head
The moon she let out a mighty cry
Money, it was known as bankrupt
There were no people left to die
I stepped right out of the world
When by chance I witnessed a visionary
A bearded man entering, floating along the sea
I just said, ‘I wish you good luck from me.’

It’s known all over now it seems
That everybody is living their lives on marmalade dreams
