Poem -

Martyr

Hello there, friend that I used to know,
A man I loved a time ago,
A man who left where I couldn't go,
And I suppose I'm never the same.

Sometimes I run with your memory
Right by my side where it always will be.
You know you're more than a habit to me,
And I'll drift off speaking your name.

I guess I was born to be a martyr for you.
I wonder sometimes if you even knew,
But that's alright; I never asked you to.
I'm the only one to blame.

Hello there, when we meet again
I'll love you now like I loved you then,
But I won't tell and become a martyr again,
And return the way I came.
