Mask of Love (Part 1)

If someoneβs ears remain closed you learn to stop talking
But when those ears open you still have nothing to say
But you remember the days when what you say was never heard
And when you talk but nothing happens
Or when you talk but something happens
But that something does not cause gladness
Remembering how you must have looked from others
Screaming for your own life
When punished but left asking why
If you punish someone but donβt say the reason
Is that not treason of your power?
For to punish without cause leaves only room for remorse
And can only be remembered as torture
But to threaten and say the reason would come with a price even though you should want to edify my life proves that you are not wise
Punishments are like a sculpture where you punish to put things in place
But to punish without place or reason only leaves you with misshapen pieces that can never be fixed
Your misshapen view of love is one thing I hate
Thinking just because you punish your son means that that is an act of love
But itβs not!
Livid animosity
Originating from hostility
Veered towards your child
Expelled in anger gone wild
That is your view of love, it is all of the above
The hypocrisy in your doctrine is intriguing but infuriating
If you love, you work to edify and help realize their dreams
Not beat them by any means because thatβs what you deem as right
I even ran away one night because of your senseless beating but for you to say it was love and try to wash with a hug
Is something that will always bug me
That you tried to hug me and that makes it all right
