MATTERS OF THE HEART

The body isĀ butĀ a vessel andĀ it has
a heart and brain
The heart feels love and longing,
and of loss it feels the pain
The brain is an organ that controls
ourĀ mood,and our every thoughtĀ
But the heart is whereĀ emotion is felt,
where battlesĀ at times are fought
Our brain omitsĀ messages telling us
to eitherĀ love, laugh or cry
But do we feel that in our head?
i think not, it is theĀ heartĀ but why?
Besides the heart and brain
we mostĀ definatly have a soul
This being the essence of us
that really makes us, a whole
Disease can ravage theĀ body but until
we die our heartsĀ beatĀ true
And even if the mind suffers disease
our hearts still feel, i`m sure
Because even in senility orĀ dementia
where the brain is worn and lost
these sufferer`s of lost memory still
hug still cry and need love, the most
Ā
And so i ask does the headĀ rule the heart
where emotion, comes to the fore?
Or is it that organ that is our heart
that beats within, our bodies core
We have all felt every emotion we love
we laugh, andĀ cry in grief
And to me it is ourĀ hearts thatĀ feel!
these being my own thoughts, my beliefĀ
Ā

Hi Debs...this got me thinking...I've seen people who have lost their minds...but still crave for love...The heart seems to in control of our whole being...enjoyed this
Lots of love...Rose
Hi Rose yes i tend to think the heart isĀ
the place of emotion i know when my mam passedĀ
i felt a pain around my heart which only passed when i allowedĀ
myself to cryĀ
Thank you for your comments glad you enjoyedĀ
lots of love DebsĀ
Ā
Wonderfully flowing work emphasising the fact that the "heart" often rules the head. The "heart" and its yearnings control our nature and our activity in such circumstances ! Ā
Keep the great work coming ! Ā :)
Hugs and best wishes to you.

Hi Tony IĀ wondered if you might likeĀ
this one, glad you did. I like to question possibilities
but i think the heart really feels emotionĀ andĀ is linked to our soul
Thank you for your great comments means aĀ lotĀ

Ā
Hi Cherie IĀ totally agree with you i go with what my heart tellsĀ
me, and i agree that the heart is more than just an organ pumping blood
It connects i think to our soul for sure
Ā You have the heart of my poem my friendĀ
Glad you enjoyed Thank you for your commentsĀ
Love n hugs Debs xox
Hi Dear Debs,
You are spot on dear Debs. Ā The heart rules. Ā The brain may try to overpower it, but it only accepts that which it wants to. Ā It also controls the soul, for in some, there exists an evil heart which isĀ the harbinger of the evil soul. Ā But vice versa, the "loving heart" engenders a "loving soul". Ā Your words are a heartfelt brainstorm from you soul.
Hugs, Peace and Love,
xox Larry
Hi Ā Larry we are on the same wavelength my friend!Ā
Thank you once again Ā For your great comments they meanĀ A lotĀ
love n hugs Debs xox
Hi, this leaves food for thought, i believe the heart is the very foundation, however feelings and emotions don't come from the heart, they are natural chemicals being released in our brains, think of the body as a car, the heart drives the fuel (blood) around a complex set of veins carrying white and red cells around the body Ā nourishing vital organs, then the brain decides when to open valves to allow just the right balance. the brain on the other hand Ā is so complex. think of it as the cars computer, making millions of calculations per second, love, lust, anger, are all achieved my certain chemicals being sent to the brain, the heart over time became a metaphor for love, but our emotions come from the brain, well that's my thoughts lol, each to their own.
cheers jeff Ā
Hi Ā Jeff Ā IĀ understand Ā everything you say and yes it makes senseĀ
I know what scientists and research tells us, but does anybody really know
as you say the brain is very complex and still today we don`t know that muchĀ
of how it worksĀ
Sometimes feelings that are felt as i have said Ā are in the heart.
Ā IĀ know TheyĀ are said to beĀ a reaction of over stimulusĀ in a Ā certain
part of the brain causing pain aroundĀ the heart, but with how little
weĀ know about it, to me it is just a theory not a proven fact
IĀ believe we have a soul that is linked to our heart brain body,Ā
I know when my mother died i felt on many occasions an intense pain
around my heart and the only relief Ā i got from it was to cry and it would dissipateĀ
for awhile. So to me i was feeling sadness and loss in my heart,
I Ā think of myself as quite spiritual not meaning i follow anyĀ religion but i do believeĀ
there is something much bigger than us that i connect with and so i believe in god
There are so many unanswered questions so many reasons to search for answersĀ
for me everything is not Ā black and white i think i fit in the grey area in life
Sorry for rambling Jeff Ā Thank you for your comments you posed a good caseĀ
I still believe what i believe though (smiles)
Best wishes DebsĀ
