MAUDLIN

MAUDLIN

Like yesterday, we think of things we used to do,
give me your Ferrari old man, you don't need new,
bet you think this poem's about you, coz you're so vain,
but it never really was quite the same again.

Where's that old spring in your step, now you look back,
remorseful, irritated, rueful at some things you lack,
look at what you have - don't be greedy thro' the pain,
but it never really was quite the same again.

I miss the chase, they said that it was core of life,
instead of nursing indentations caused by a knife,
we enjoyed outrageous fortune, never had to explain,
but it never really was quite the same again.

See the picture, still real - me Tarzan and you Jane,
but after all that, it did turn out to be the same again.
