ME -THE COWARDS MISSING FOOTSTEP

took my eyes
so I wouldn't be recognized
keeping still on a whiskey frozen morning
heard women softly betray me
heard my father slay the kiss
I carried within me

Blind on a moving flesh
carried in a crows murderous jest
fell beneath a cowards sleep
wept against a stinging sea
forged two new legs
from a buried bone
answers married
then alone

saw your place as the naked race
cried to hell
save the face
no one can be in this darkness
except me
a crowded collection
none of us free

dusted years fall out of grace
cemetery lovers
marble and chaste
far from the light
too far to run
tripping on the burning crying ones

Another Whiskey frozen morning
but never the very last one

because  i  am just that Mornings coward
counting stains left behind
where the bravest left the footstep

While mine I cannot find
just the creaking laughing dawn
