Meadows of the Mind

I want somewhere to wander and to muse,
And therefore, I'll create a sweet elsewhere
The age of din and damage can't abuse -
The meadows of the mind suit this affair -
And I shall charm and change it as I choose -
This sad old world forgets the skill to care:
And civilization's such a thin veneer -
I think I'm going to slip away just here...
So now I'll melt harmoniously astray,
To where no wretched tyrant has control -
I've borrowed half an hour or so from May,
Which should assist serenity of soul ...
But, no, it's never wise to run away -
for all I've never faced will take its toll:
Though fear won't yield to wisdom or be chained,
Peace of mind is always self ordained...
