Meerkat

"Why won't you go outside my friend?" said a Meerkat to another,
"You can't just stay inside our burrow, close to our dear old mother",
"I find it safe and reassuring, there are danger's outside our home",
"It's far too dangerous for me dear brother, for me to go and roam".

"You rely on me to get your food, I bet you don't know how to hunt"
"I'm sure if you faced a scorpion, you would attack it from the front",
"But the dangerous end is the stinger, so you got to take that first",
"For if that poison gets you brother, you'd be in death's arms and cursed".

"So let's go and I'll show you, I'll put my knowledge to the test",
"Follow me and I'll keep you safe, mother is not the only one who knows best",
"Let me show you my dear brother, you're the only one that I love",
What the Meerkat didn't see coming, was that death came from above.

Walking back a few more steps into the safety of his place,
The Meerkat looked totally lost, and major sorrow on his face,
But the other Meerkat was way too fast, dodged the eagle from the sky,
The brother Meerkat was so relieved, and instantly started to cry.
