Meet by the big tree
ode to a rebellion

O come all ye of noble mind
those who yearn for liberty
grab your pike and follow the sound
to the song that rallies the free.
From Vinegar Hill to Carnsore point
Ferns to the Ring of Hook
Philadelphia and Paris have lead the way
to its core mankind is shook.
The rights of man no longer thoughts
as the flames of freedom burn
the British Crown's colonial ways
shall perish and tides shall turn.
Peasant and diplomat
priest and privileged
all rise and follow me
our ranks will swell
and fight we shall
as we meet by the big tree.
In memory of the countless numbers of men, women and children who died for the cause of Irish Freedom on this day 21st June 1798 at Vinegar Hill, Enniscorthy, Co Wexford, Ireland during the United Irishmen rebellion of the year.
