memorial day

Everyone's goes shopping for memorial day
And decorates their home's in red white and blue
Buying table cloths and curtains paper plates
and napkins, cups, and balloons
And carts full of foods to Bar B Que
Â
its the memorial day weekend
being remembered around the world
to celebrate the courage and memories of the fallen soldiers
many of them unknown soldiers whose
stories of courage would never be  told
Â
In recreation parks, around the world, children are with their family having fun
running around with ice cream cones
picnic baskets and foods on the grill
I like well-done steaks grilled down to the bones
Â
freedom is a way of life for many of us today
paid for with the blood of those many courageous soldiers
and it's sad to see there are still wars in many countries today
and we read of the crimes against humanity on the front page of every newspaper
didn't so many brave men and women
give their lives for the world to be free
why are there still bombs killing innocent people today
why are there still people trying to take away your rights to be free
Â
thousands of unknown sons and daughters
lost their lives on both sides of the wars
some was just following orders of the leader
and  the tyrant's who made up the laws
Â
there are unknown fallen hero's without names
unmarked graves in the sun and in the winters cold
some give up their life's in little spaces and ditches
so that the wings of freedom can spread around the world
Â
how can we ever begin to thank them
how can we show our applications
we can start by reaching out to those are hungry
to join us in our memorial day celebrations
Â
to all the brave men and women of our arm forces
for our freedom they have answered the call
and today and for every memorial day to come
with all of our hearts, we want to thank you all
Â
for you bravely stand tall against all odds
when our freedom and way of life was being condemned
and your silent voices will always be echoed
in the singing of our national anthem
Â
every memorial day we salute you
and the sacrifice that you all have made
you will always be remembered in our prayers
Bar-B-Ques, celebrations and in our parades
and we must also remember the heroes that stayed at home during the war
the silent men and woman toiling in the munitions factories
and the result of their efforts to keep the war machinery rolling until the of our victories
And I'm proud to be an American,
In the land of the brave and the free
And I would never forget the brave men and women
who died to give that right to me.
