Memories cheer

1973 "selling England"echoes through the dorms
Tomorrows captains of industry yet to perform
Hippy ideals ebbing as reality begins to bite
Young inspired and full of spirit and fight
Some will remember that clan call that echoed
"Peace and love"camaraderie,sharing the accord
Love beads patchouli joss sticks all senses attacked
Each dorm a different vibe, sound which to react
Anathema to many the contradition "public school"
Tenuous now those links that bonded so tight
Once comforted supported felt so strong, right
Though roots run deep days never forgotten
Life happens knocks aplenty shape and twist
Yet those memories, roots continue to exist
Sometimes to inspire, cheer or even repent
Wonder why we didnt realise we were in a moment
