Memories of a lost child

Memories of a lost child

What I wouldn't do to go back
Back to days full of Innocence
finding happiness in the smallest things

The games of a pretend world
running along forbidden walls
The secret shrines, the hidden base
Wadding through streams believing they were stormy seas

Up in the mountains of hidden mystery and magic
Believing anything possible behind the city lights

This I left behind
Headed to a strange world of reality
This which I knew not of
For I was a child
Living in the forbidden walls of a pretend world

Now I'm here
Trying to leave a pretend world behind
A child disappearing with memories of an old life

It pains me to return
To dust off a picture in a solid oak frame
Untouched by time
Memories flooding back
A key to a pretend world once again in sight
