Poem -

Memories & Tears

She sat at her desk

pencil in hand

thinking of ways

for her life’s end

She put up with it

way too long

names and messages

all of which wrong

She cries as she writes

names of friends

asking them to forgive her

for the life she’s about to end

She sends out a message

to see who cares

one reply comes

“DON’T YOU DARE”

Nothing can change

her decision already made

She gets into her car

to the soft seats of suede

She drives to the place

where her childhood thrived

then kept going

to the place where she dies

She sets the letter down

on a bed of green clover

and thinks of the life

that is soon to be over

She thinks of her life

of her family and friends

and thinks of how sad they’ll be

when her life comes to an end

She walks to the river

of the green mountain state

she thinks about going back

but it’s all too late

She lays on her back

head still above

takes a deep breath

and under she goes

She moves the heavy rock

onto her dress

water fills her lungs

its time for her to rest

She now sees her loved ones

her family and friends

and how sad they are

that her life came to an end

They’re crying over her

they aren’t done grieving

she sees what she did wrong

with her decision of leaving

She now feels bad

as she lays there in white,

for all the other things

she could have done right

She could have made them jealous

she could have made them cry

but she did what they wanted

she laid there and died

She could have been a speaker

She could have done what’s right

she could have stuck up for the victims

the sufferers and spites

She knows what she did

when she decided to die

she can’t go back now

she lays down and closes her eyes

So now there is another reason

another example, another case

she didn’t go down in the history books

she died without any grace

So now all thats left of her

is a frozen casket box

she is now covered

in worms and dirt and rocks

She lived on this earth

for more than sixteen years

now all that’s left of her

are memories and tears
