Poem -
Mercy
Words of mercy easily spill,
Like raindrops on a windowsill.
Kindness won't reach scarlet eyes,
Benevolent evil in disguise.

Nails of diamond scrape chilled skin,
Boundless darkness lurks within.
Hold screams tight in the throat,
Crimson flows, sacrificial goat.

Rasping breath like fetid meat,
Too tardy now for safe retreat.
Darkness invades a vacant stare,
Descending fangs reflected there.
Β
Light grows dim from depths so bright,
A greedy lapping in the night.
Heady smells of sanguine tide,
Weariness penetrates deep inside.
Β
Frenzied rips of flesh unfold,
Skin on skin pressed so cold.
Sanity slips like descending rain,
Spattering softly on the windowpane.

Good a,a,b,b rhyme scheme in all 5 or your rhymed quatrains, POETESSDARKLY.
Good consonance--particularly the sounds of "d", "s" and "l" all throughout.
Eloquently worded using very descriptive adjectives and verbs to paint the bloody carnage in words.
