Meltdown
He’d felt unwell for a while
It became too much
And on that hot Summer’s day
Alone: Something melted away.
Looking out at the sun in the sky
And the birds in the trees
Standing. Staring.
He became at one with them.
So here he was, this speck of life
In the Cosmos,
Merely one of trillions
Of life forms of different types.
His time on the Earth would be
A tiny tiny fraction
Of the total amount
Of time the Earth would exist:
He was that insignificant.
It seemed odd
And his perception of
Reality shifted.
He then became aware
Of white flashing lights
To the right of his vision
Though he knew there was nothing there.
These went on for a while
Then his right eyebrow
Started twitching uncontrollably
He sat down not knowing
What to do.
The twitching and jerking
Moved down his right hand side
He was alone:
Things became vague.
Next thing he was aware of
It was dusk outside.
He found himself slumped
On his lounge floor.
Nothing seemed to matter;
He felt at peace
And for a while afterwards
He experienced synchronicities.
