Middle name

My Nana once said that I was named DanielĀ
After Danny Blue. But it's not true.

Mother just liked the name. Jamie Daniel McGinlayĀ

From there on in, was I. Dad vetoed Fernando,

My Peruvian name, given to me by my birth mother.

I don't know much about Danny Blue other thanĀ

He became a school teacher after he and Dad

Had gone to school together themselves.

And when I think on it, I don't really know what a

Middle name is for. Nobody ever uses it.

Nobody really even learns it. My parents don't haveĀ

Middle names, likewise their parents.Ā

I guess 'nowdays I could have googled it.

But here we are, not really knowing what the hellĀ

A damn middle name is good for.

Being Me

Middle names are chosen to honour (sounds better than suck up to) old relatives (this is especially important when a big inheritance is at stake). Apart from that, when you have a baby it's just too difficult to stick to just the one name. That's my answer to your wonderfully poetic question x

Some wonderful reflection here dear Rory, I think a middle name is for those who couldn't quite decide so chose them both 🤣 or a special family member that's good for a middle name too, other than that maybe someone is a Libra? , as we can never decide. I've left you with loads to ponder lol hey thank goodness your weren't named after Fernando, you would ha e been seriously haunted by abba! A fun read my friend. 🌹
