Poem -
Mind the gap
When we first metÂ
No problem seemed evident yetÂ
Nothing mattered
A fog of love and laughter .
The future seemed so bright
They were wrong and we were right .
Love would conquer all .
Every obstacle , before it
would fall .
But advancing years bought home truthsÂ
The gap widened every time we looked .
The mirror didn’t lieÂ
Nothing can halt father time.
Now his best days are a distant haze
And I’ve become a carer in subtle waysÂ
Rather than being an partner .
